An important goal of Celanese is to offer employees a safe workplace and to ensure
that health and safety impacts resulting from our activities are kept to an absolute minimum. The company
actively encourages all its employees to take individual responsibility for protecting their health
and safety as well as the environment.
Celanese employs 'One.EHS Information
System' (OIS) to uniformly monitor and systematically assess all environmental and safety incidents,
workplace injuries and production interruptions worldwide. It then issues internal global safety reports
on the experiences to further improve worker and plant safety.
Since 2005 Celanese
has recorded its injuries based on the OHSA safety performance measures commonly used in the US (OHSA
Incident Rate - OIR, Lost Time Rate - LTR).

In
2004 corporate as well as site
management introduced measures to reduce accident frequency, including more intensive safety trainings
at the plants as well as in administration, combined with special measures to ensure that all employees
keep safety in mind at all times. Continuing of these measures ensured a significant reduction by more
than 30 percent in OSHA (OIR) and 60 percent in Lost Time (LTIR) in 2005.

As
in past
years, the number of operational incidents such as fires, explosions and other occurrences with environmental
impact was further reduced.
