Good appearance and excellent performance are key features of gloss paints, lacquers, stains and varnishes, where high gloss, long open time and good workability are some of the most important sought by all paint producers and end users. Specific requirements for exterior applications demand very high UV and weather resistance. When the coated substrate is wood, the dimensional changes under different degrees of humidity and different temperatures must be managed. Finally, for interior applications, surface hardness, quick drying time and an early resistance to blocking are critical, especially for windows or door frames, so that coated surfaces do not stick after drying.

The development of heterogeneous emulsions like Mowilith® LDM 7451 or Mowilith® LDM 7411, both based on core-shell technology, has enabled us to answer the initially contradictory demands for optimal balance between good blocking resistance and elasticity, making those binders a universal solution for high quality gloss paints.

Mowilith® DM 2 H is a suitable binding systems when superior flexibility is required for wood coatings. Its properties like good pigment compatibility and very good weather resistance make it suitable for exterior gloss paints for weather protection. It also demonstrates excellent elasticity under moisture conditions and at low temperatures, and also offers a very good water vapor permeability. In spite of its elasticity, the paint has a low soiling tendency.
